Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a water ionizer if well water is my water source?

The efficiency of electrolysis can drop when well water is used since it tends to hold a lot of free carbon dioxide, as well as in cases where water comprising only a small amount of electrolytic minerals is used. We recommend that if you are on well water, you contact us with a copy of your well water report and we can make recommendations of specific pre-filters that will greatly improve the taste and performance of your ionized water.

How should I begin drinking Alkaline ionized water?

It is most common to begin by setting a low pH level (between pH8 and pH9.0), and gradually increasing the amount of intake. After continuing regular intake for about two weeks, gradually adjust the pH level and amount of intake (between pH9.0-pH9.5) based on your bodily needs and physical condition. The alkaline water should be as fresh as possible. For children or seniors, set the pH level at an even lower level upon starting, and gradually increase it as the body adjusts to the current pH level.

Can I make my babies formula with alkaline ionized water?

In the case of infants (until about a year old), since breast milk or milk is the only thing they consume, the intestinal movement is generally different from adults, and the use of alkaline ionized water is not encouraged until the infant begins to consume more sophisticated foods. In any case, alkaline water should not be used to make powdered milk for infants. Use the filtered setting instead.

Can I use a O K S Alkaline Water Ionizer with a Reverse Osmosis System?

Yes and No. No, reverse osmosis water cannot be ionized as it has had all of the minerals removed. The solution to that problem is to add a Reminiralizer cartridge between your RO system and your O K S Water Ionizer.

What is the cluster theory of deoxidized water?

Approximately 15years ago, with the help of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) appliance, it was confirmed that water does not exist in single unit molecules, but forms a molecular population (cluster) out of approximately 13 water molecules. These clusters are constantly repeating an aggregation - disaggregation process. The quality of water depends on the size of its clusters. For example, small clusters have active molecules that increase the capacity of water to dissolve elements (solubility), let elements pass through (permeability), and let heat pass through (conduction). Electrolysis causes the water clusters to break, and Alkaline water has clusters made up of five to six water molecules resulting in a lower molecular weight. This is approximately half of that of tap water (12-15 water molecules/cluster) and is very beneficial for your health as the water is able to penetrate the cell and pull out toxins.

Is it difficult to install the under counter water ionizer model?

No, but you will need a 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 inch hole in your sink or countertop to install this under counter ionizer. Either remove a built in soap dispenser, reverse osmosis faucet or us a hole saw to cut a hole or hire a plumber for the install.

If you cut the hole yourself, you will need a:

  • Diamond hole saw to cut granite
  • Carbide grit hole saw for cast iron sinks
  • Standard bi-metal hole saw to cut a stainless steel sink.
  • Full installation can take about an hour and a half.

Where can I find a certified plumber in my area to install the under-counter ionizer?

Visit contractors.com, click on "plumbing," and enter your zip code. A list of certified plumbers in your area will appear on your screen. You can also go to google.com and type "plumber" and your zip code in the search box, and a list of plumbers in your area will come up.

Will the h3 work for people who have the ionizer hooked right up to the faucet?

Yes, it’s real easy though, just hook the faucet diverter up as normal but instead of plugging the line into the ionizer you plug into the "in " side of the h3 then out to the filter.

How much should an install cost?

If you have someone come out and drill the hole and install it for you, it should run $100-$150.

Is there another way to connect the ionizer?

We recommend a direct connection to the cold water line as a more functional arrangement where possible. If you have a spray faucet you can run the line down that same hole and connect underneath. Or consider the G2 acid faucet.

What should be done if I have high water pressure?

Have a plumber adjust the pressure if possible or the plumber will need to install a new pressure regulator for you, this should be done whether you got an ionizer or not. If you have no pressure regulator you should have your plumber install one.

What is the max water pressure my house can have with the O K S ionizers.

Warranty doesn't cover damage from excessive water pressure. The pressure should not exceed 60 psi. Have your water pressure checked before installing. Call your local plumber for inspection, or for $10 you can purchase a water pressure gauge from your local Home Depot and test it yourself. The water pressure gauge simple screws on any outside hose bit and will show you your water pressure when turned on.
